What Feed the Queen Is

Feed the Queen is an unfinished game-jam prototype in which the player controls one small red worker ant. The public game name is Feed the Queen, while the local Unity package identifies itself internally as Ants. A matching 2017 play recording connects those two names to the same brown-tunnel and green-surface game.

The verified task is deliberately narrow: carry an oversized sandwich through the environment and bring it to the hungry queen. The developer described planned object interactions as unfinished and stated that feeding the queen was the only implemented interaction at that point.

The reviewed short video shows a delivery route but not a complete catalogue of the build. No threat, score, timer, health display, or formal ending appears in those minutes; that observation should not be converted into certainty that no unseen state exists anywhere in the package.

How Feed the Queen Works

  1. Locate the single worker ant and the sandwich food. The food remains attached above the ant while it is being transported.
  2. Traverse the brown underground chambers, rough vertical shafts, ledges, and green surface sections. The route changes elevation repeatedly, so the practical challenge is maintaining the food carry through the terrain.
  3. Continue toward the large queen body and red queen head marked by the request Give me food!!. Reaching that destination with the sandwich is the only verified objective.
  4. Treat the prototype as a small route demonstration rather than a colony simulator. There is no reviewed support for producing workers, crafting food, upgrading a nest, fighting enemies, or building an economy.

Prototype Route and Scope

One worker ant

The player character is a single red worker ant. The footage does not show switching units, commanding a group, or directly controlling the queen.

Sandwich transport

A sandwich slice much larger than the ant travels above the worker during movement. Delivery is visually supported, but no numeric reward or consumption counter is readable.

Underground and surface route

Brown chambers and vertical shafts connect to green outdoor ground near HOME SWEET HILL. These spaces create traversal friction without proving lethal hazards.

Unfinished jam scope

The first-party description calls the project unfinished but playable. Planned interactions were not implemented, leaving feeding the queen as the documented activity.

Feed the Queen Prototype Guide

Based on the matching 2017 first-party project description, local Ants package metadata, and reviewed frames showing the worker ant, sandwich carry, queen destination, and vertical return route.

Four source-labelled frames establish the controllable unit, carried food, destination, and underground-to-surface traversal without importing systems from a different same-name game.

Guide Overview

This prototype supports a narrow answer: guide one worker ant and its sandwich to the queen. The evidence is sufficient to explain the route and unfinished scope, but not exact keys, a score strategy, a threat catalogue, or a formal ending.

The reviewed clip is short. Statements about what was not observed are therefore framed as limits of the evidence, not universal proof that an unseen part of the build cannot contain another state.

1. Identify the worker and carried object

The controllable character is one small red worker ant. A sandwich slice, much larger than the ant, remains attached above it while moving. That visual connection distinguishes the objective from scenery.

Begin by following the ant and food together. There is no evidence for selecting a colony, spawning another unit, or controlling the queen.

Warning: Do not describe multiple controllable ants or colony management.

2. Read the route as connected elevations

Movement crosses brown underground chambers, rough-walled vertical shafts, ledges, and green surface ground. HOME SWEET HILL appears near the outdoor section, helping mark the transition between route types.

The terrain creates awkward movement and return paths, but the footage does not show damage from a fall, trap, predator, or collision. Describe the challenge as traversal friction rather than a lethal obstacle course.

Warning: Do not convert difficult geometry into an unsupported hazard claim.

3. Bring the sandwich to the hungry queen

The destination is a large pale queen or larval body beside a red queen head. The visible request Give me food!! confirms the purpose of the carried sandwich and aligns with the developer’s statement that feeding the queen is the implemented interaction.

Approaching the queen with food is the verified route goal. The recording does not clearly reveal a numeric delivery count, reward amount, consumption animation, or final completion screen.

Warning: Do not publish a required delivery total or a guaranteed ending.

4. Keep the unfinished scope explicit

The project was made for a game jam and described by its creator as clearly unfinished but playable. Planned interactions with other items did not reach this version, leaving a compact food-delivery prototype.

That boundary explains why the guide is shorter than a full walkthrough. Additional scoring, failure, crafting, or colony prose would add speculation rather than useful detail.

Warning: Do not borrow incremental systems from the unrelated newer game that shares the title.

Prototype Reading Notes

  • Keep the sandwich route in view and correct position deliberately around shafts; the food is the objective, not a background decoration.
  • Do not infer a combat or avoidance system from rough terrain. The reviewed route shows traversal, not verified enemies or traps.
  • Do not borrow systems from newer games with the same title. This page concerns the 2017 popoishere project whose internal product name is Ants.
  • The exact input mapping is unknown because the recording shows movement without key prompts, and the mirrored browser conversion was not directly mapped.

Browser Notes

The repository provides a Unity WebGL mirror with a 960 by 600 canvas, although the original first-party release was presented as a Windows download.

Directional movement is visible, but the exact key mapping is not visible and remains unverified. This page intentionally omits a Controls section rather than guessing keys.

Touch support, saving, fullscreen behavior, and browser-specific audio controls were not established for this conversion.

Feed the Queen FAQ

What do you control in Feed the Queen?

You control one small red worker ant carrying sandwich food through underground and surface spaces.

What is the objective?

The only verified objective is to bring the sandwich to the hungry queen. The unfinished project did not implement the wider interactions originally planned.

What are the controls?

Directional movement is visible, but the exact key or input mapping is unknown because no prompt or input overlay appears in the reviewed evidence.

Does the prototype have enemies or a score system?

Neither appears in the reviewed short video, but that absence is not proof about every unseen part of the build. This guide makes no enemy or scoring claim.

Is this an official page?

No. This is an unofficial fan-operated page documenting the evidence-limited 2017 prototype.
